Plan the migration before you deploy

At ten machines this licence is a bridge with a known expiry date. Before rolling it out, audit the fleet — the result usually splits into three groups:

  • Machines that pass the Windows 11 check. Deploy Windows 11 Pro on these now; you avoid doing this twice. Many machines fail the check only because fTPM (AMD) or PTT (Intel) is disabled in the BIOS — check before writing them off.
  • Machines blocked by hardware — unsupported CPU, no TPM. Windows 10 Pro here, with a hardware replacement plan and, if needed, commercial ESU budgeted.
  • Machines blocked by software — line-of-business applications or equipment not certified for Windows 11. Windows 10 Pro, and start the vendor conversation now.

Because a Windows 10 Pro key also activates Windows 11 Pro, machines in the second and third groups can be moved later without buying new licences.

Deployment notes

Keep a written record of which machine consumed which activation. With ten activations in one pool, an undocumented rebuild halfway through the year is the usual reason a business runs out unexpectedly.

How does the 10-PC multi-activation key work?

The key carries a pool of ten activations. Each PC draws one when it activates against Microsoft's servers. Machines activate independently and can have completely different hardware, so mixed-vendor fleets are not a problem.

How long will these machines keep receiving security updates?

Consumer Extended Security Updates run to 13 October 2026. Organisations can subscribe to the commercial ESU programme, which extends coverage to October 2028 at the latest, with the per-device price increasing each year. ESU is bought from Microsoft or a licensing partner and is separate from the licence itself.

Can these keys activate Windows 11 Pro instead?

Yes. A Windows 10 Pro key activates Windows 11 Pro on any machine meeting the Windows 11 requirements. That makes this a workable migration licence: deploy Windows 10 Pro where you must today, and move machines to Windows 11 Pro as hardware or software constraints clear, without repurchasing.

Does this include Group Policy and domain join?

Yes. Windows 10 Pro includes Group Policy Management, Active Directory domain join and Azure AD join, so all ten machines can be managed centrally. Note these are Pro edition features — a Home licence does not provide them.

What happens when a machine is rebuilt or replaced?

A rebuild on the same hardware normally reactivates without consuming an extra activation. Replacing a machine outright does consume one from the pool. If you exhaust the pool through legitimate rebuilds, contact us with your order number and we will look at it case by case.

I need more than 10 activations — what are my options?

Activations cannot be added to an existing key, so contact us before purchasing if you expect to exceed ten. We quote larger deployments directly rather than having you stack keys, which is harder to track and usually costs more.
